LCLP Statutory Notice
The Lewes Co-operative Learning Partnership
Notice is given in accordance with section 19(3) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that:
the governing body of Priory School intends to make a prescribed alteration to Priory School which is a Community Secondary School located at
Priory School, Mountfield Road Lewes East Sussex BN7 2XN
the governing body of Western Road Community Primary School intends to make a prescribed alteration to Western Road Community Primary School which is a Community Primary School located at
Western Road Community Primary School Southover High Street, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 1JB
The proposed alteration in each case is to:
Change school category from Community to Foundation and together with one or more of the proposed partners to acquire a trust established otherwise than under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.
The proposed name of the foundation will be “The Lewes Co-operative Learning Partnership” and the proposed implementation date is 1st May 2014. The “The Lewes co-operative Learning Partnership” does not already act as a foundation for any school.
The partners in the proposed trust are:
Priory School (2 Trustees)
Western Road Community Primary School (2 Trustees)
Iford & Kingston C of E (VC) Primary School (2 Trustees)
Pells C of E (VC) Primary School (2 Trustees)
Rodmell C of E (VA) Primary School (2 Trustees)
South Malling C of E (VC) Primary School (2 Trustees)
Southover C of E (VC) Primary School (2 Trustees)
The Co-operative Movement (1 Trustee)
East Sussex County Council (1 Trustee)
In addition learners at each of the schools, parents, staff, members of the local community and local community organisations will be able to become members of the Trust. The Trust will have a Stakeholder Forum composed of members, which will be able to appoint 2 of the Trust’s trustees. As the Trust develops the Trust will welcome other schools joining the Trust.
The rationale for acquiring the Trust, the contribution it will make, and the direction it will provide to the schools can be summarised as the collective desire of all partners to:
Improve opportunities for success for all pupils irrespective of personal circumstances, social background, race, gender, ability or beliefs
Provide high quality pastoral care for our pupils
Deliver responsive, relevant and engaging curricula
Create learning communities where all citizens are equally valued and respected
Learn from, and with, each other to improve on our previous best
Provide more varied opportunities for pupils, staff and stakeholders
Increase the effectiveness of parent and community involvement
Develop mutually supportive networks and reduce isolation and duplication
Enhance dialogue and understanding between different phases of education and so improve progression and continuity for pupils
Prepare pupils for their lives as healthy, creative, skilled and aspirational citizens
Encourage pupils and adults to be outward looking and forward looking, embracing innovation, initiatives and new approaches

Within four weeks from the date of publication of this proposal any person may object to or make comments on the proposals by sending them by email to the appropriate school or in writing to the Governing Body of the appropriate school (address above).
